Fünf Panoramafotografien und eine großformatige Videoarbeit des multidisziplinären Künstlers Stan Douglas werden in diesem Herbst den neuen Flügel des Museums De Pont mit Bild und Ton erobern. In diesem anspruchvollen Ensemble - letztes Jahr auf der Biennale in Venedig präsentiert - rekonstruiert Douglas entscheidende Momente sozialer Unruhen aus dem Jahr 2011 und verbindet sie in einer historischen Linie mit dem Jahr 1848, als mehrere europäische Länder für demokratische Freiheiten kämpften. Die überwältigende Videoinstallation ISDN zeigt zudem eine fiktive Rap-Battle zwischen Künstlern aus der englischen Grime- und der ägyptischen Mahraganat-Szene: zwei Straßenrap-Varianten mit sozialem Engagement. Douglas zeigt, wie die Vergangenheit in der Gegenwart weiterschwingt und dabei die Grenzen zwischen Fiktion und Realität verwischt.
