"Words have temperatures ... When they reach a certain point and become hot, they appeal to me" - Ed Ruscha.
Words, their intensity, valences and temperatures have long been a topic in Philipp Stahl's work. As a writing painter, balancing between art and literature, he shows in the exhibition "Fahrenheit" a selection of works that give an overview of different facets of his work and fit into an exciting system with variable reading directions.
Mountain landscapes are contrasted with Munich shop signs and are continued in typewritten, diary-like texts. The sublime and the supposedly banal meet in this poetic topography. Words become motifs and images are thought in language. An easily recognizable style combines a multitude of genres, techniques and formats. "Hard-hitting metaphysics meets buttery-soft psychodynamics" - says the artist.
